About my workshops

As a Cognitive Therapist and Advanced Accredited Schema Therapist, I provide schema therapy at my private practice in North London. I have also taught both schema therapy and CBT, as well as mindfulness techniques to students, counsellors, psychotherapists, psychologists and other health professionals in a variety of settings. And I write about all aspects of mental health, wellbeing and psychotherapy. I write a blog for this site, recently wrote an article about schema therapy for Therapy Today (the BACP’s flagship magazine) and have been interviewed/written for numerous websites and publications including the Huffington Post.

I am also the founder of Schema Therapy Skills, which provides training workshops at my large, comfortable office in East Finchley. These workshops focus on specific skills from schema therapy that are extremely useful for and applicable to therapists working in other modalities. They run as either one- or two-day workshops and group sizes are small (maximum six people), so there is plenty of time for questions, discussion, skills practice and help with therapeutic challenges and your most difficult cases.

  • Prices for my Schema Therapy Skills workshops are £180 for a single day and £340 for a two-day course

  • All workshops run from 9.30am to 4.30pm and refreshments are included. You will also receive all training materials and a certificate of attendance

  • If you would like to book, just follow the payment instructions at the bottom of the workshop page (all major debit and credit cards accepted)

  • Once I have received payment, I will send you confirmation of your place on the workshop

  • Then 7-10 days before your workshop I will send you directions and a full set of slides and other training materials

  • If you have any questions about my workshops, call me on 07766 704210 or use the contact form to get in touch

WORKING WITH IMAGERY: POWERFUL, TRANSFORMATIVE TECHNIQUES TO ENHANCE YOUR CLINICAL PRACTICE

In schema therapy, there is a strong emphasis on using experiential techniques such as imagery rescripting and chair work, which are seen as more effective and transformative than just talking about problems from the client’s past and present. This one-day workshop will teach you how imagery techniques can help rescript even the most traumatic experiences from your client’s childhood, such as incidences of abuse or neglect.

Cost: £180 including refreshments, all training materials and certificate of attendance

Next date: 31st May 2019

In addition to a brief overview of the theory of schema therapy and schemas/modes, you will learn how to assess and formulate your clients’ modes, as well as specific techniques such as imagery and chair work for working with key modes.

INTRODUCTION TO SCHEMA THERAPY

ATTACHMENT & LIMITED REPARENTING: THE HEALING POWER OF A WARM, AUTHENTIC RELATIONSHIP

Many therapists are taught to maintain strong boundaries with their clients. And many of those boundaries are both healthy and necessary for good, ethical practice. But in schema therapy we are taught to push those boundaries, forming a deep, human-to-human relationship with our clients that is more like family than a detached, professional stance.

Cost: £180 including refreshments, all training materials and certificate of attendance

Next date: 27th September 2019

CHAIR WORK TECHNIQUES: ENHANCING THE CREATIVITY & EMOTIONAL IMPACT OF YOUR PRACTICE

In schema therapy, there is a strong emphasis on using experiential techniques such as imagery rescripting and chair work, which are seen as more effective and transformative than just talking about problems. Chair work techniques offer a powerful and hugely creative means to do that, as the only limit on using experiential techniques is the therapist’s imagination. This one-day workshop will teach you how to use chair work techniques in your own practice, whichever modality you work in.

Cost: £180 including refreshments, training materials and certificate of attendance

Next date: 25th October 2019

TRANSFORMING THE CRITIC: WORKING WITH SELF-DISLIKE, PUNITIVENESS & PERFECTIONISM

We all have an inner critic, which manifests as a stream of self-critical, perfectionistic or sometime highly punitive, aggressive thoughts. In schema therapy the Critic is one of the key modes that we identify and work with, as it often causes clients considerable distress. This one-day workshop will teach you how to formulate and work with your client’s Critic, which may be a significant factor in their depression, chronic stress, anxiety disorders, addiction, self-harm or eating disorders.

Cost: £180 including refreshments, training materials and certificate of attendance

Next date: 29th November 2019

WORKING WITH TRAUMA & COMPLEX CASES: A SCHEMA THERAPY-INFORMED APPROACH TO FORMULATION & TREATMENT

The schema therapy model was originally developed to work with Borderline Personality Disorder – and it remains one of the few approaches proven to help people with this highly challenging presentation. Although the model has been adapted and expanded over time, to work with any longstanding or hard-to-treat psychological problem, it remains one of the most effective approaches available to treat problems related to trauma, abuse and neglect.

Cost: £180 including refreshments, training materials and certificate of attendance
